Meet Our Youngest Mover-in-Training: Boss Baby Takes the Warehouse

At Take A Load Off Moving, we’re known for having one of the most experienced teams in Nanaimo—but this week, our warehouse operations got an unexpected upgrade… in the form of a juice-powered, gummy-bear-fueled, mini mover who stole the show.

He’s small.
He’s focused.
And he’s got more attitude than a full-grown foreman.

Welcome to Boss Baby: Warehouse Edition—a true story from behind the scenes at Vancouver Island’s most community-focused moving company.

👶 Who Is Boss Baby?

Let’s be clear—this isn’t just some kid tagging along with Dad.

This is our youngest forklift assistant (okay, he had a little help with the pedals), and he took over our Nanaimo warehouse like he’d been born to run logistics.

Wearing his high-vis vest with pride and boots two sizes too big, he was stacking boxes, directing “big movers” where to go, and asking when his “shift was over” so he could get back to cartoons.

We’re not saying we’re training him to lead one day…
Okay, yes we are. 😎

💼 Leadership Starts Early… Even If Nap Time Interrupts

While most kids his age are mastering the art of coloring inside the lines, our guy is learning the ropes of what it takes to run one of the largest moving fleets on Vancouver Island.

From navigating the warehouse (safely and under supervision, of course) to mimicking how to wrap furniture or count supplies, this little legend reminded us why Take A Load Off Moving isn’t just another moving company.

We’re family-owned.
We’re local.
And we’re raising the next generation of pros right here in Nanaimo.

🚛 A Day in the Life of a Mini Mover

Here’s what Boss Baby’s day looked like:

  • 8:00 AM: Clocked in (late), demanded chocolate milk before starting.
  • 8:30 AM: Took inventory of the snack shelf—very thorough.
  • 9:00 AM: Tried driving the forklift (with supervision).
  • 9:15 AM: Got distracted by a box labeled “toys” and went missing for 20 minutes.
  • 10:00 AM: Issued a fake safety violation to a grown adult for “not smiling enough.”
  • 10:30 AM: Lunch break (2 packs of fruit snacks and half a grilled cheese).
  • 11:00 AM: Attempted to reorganize the moving blankets. Ended up in a blanket fort.
  • 11:45 AM: Demanded a promotion.
  • 12:00 PM: Nap.

You can’t train this kind of raw talent. 😂

🔐 Real Talk: Why Local, Family-Owned Movers Matter

As funny as this story is, there’s something important at the heart of it.

At Take A Load Off Moving, we’re not just packing boxes—we’re building community. We’ve been locally owned and operated in Nanaimo for nearly a decade, and we’ve proudly grown to become:

✅ One of the most trusted movers on Vancouver Island
✅ The only Google Guaranteed moving company in the region
✅ 8-Time Best of Nanaimo award winners
✅ Partners with Great Canadian Van Lines for long-distance and cross-border moves
✅ Verified by CAM (Canadian Association of Movers) and fully insured

And yes—we’re family-run, and proud of it.

🧃 What Our Boss Baby Represents

We shared this post not just for laughs (although it’s hilarious)—but to show you who we really are.

This is a company built on:

  • Family values
  • Community pride
  • Local jobs
  • And a true love for what we do

Our little helper reminds us that what we’re building here isn’t just about moves—it’s about trust, reputation, and leaving a legacy.

🛑 Beware of Fly-By-Night Movers (Even If They Have a Kid in a Vest)

We can joke about Boss Baby, but here’s something serious:

The number of unlicensed, uninsured, and unqualified movers in Nanaimo has skyrocketed. Many advertise extremely low rates, but they’re often:

❌ Not locally based
❌ Not carrying valid insurance or WCB coverage
❌ Not certified by CAM or any regulatory body
❌ Not paying taxes into your community

If you care where your money goes, choose a mover who’s from your city, not just using it as a keyword.

✅ How to Protect Yourself

Here’s how you can make sure you’re hiring the right team (even if they don’t have a toddler in charge):

  1. Verify Credentials: Use our free tool:
  2. Ask Questions:
    • Are they CAM certified?
    • Do they carry insurance and WCB?
    • Are they based in Nanaimo or just advertising here?
  3. Compare Real Rates:
    We’re upfront about our pricing:
    • 17ft truck w/ 2 movers: $130/hr
    • 20ft truck w/ 2 movers: $150/hr
    • 26ft truck w/ 3 movers: $200/hr
    • 32ft truck w/ 3 movers: $250/hr
If someone offers drastically lower rates—ask why.

📣 Support Local. Support Family. Support Real Movers.

We’re not a franchise. We’re not a pop-up operation.
We are Take A Load Off Moving, and we’re proud of our team, our community roots, and even our tiniest crew member.

If you’re looking for a mover that takes their job seriously—but doesn’t take themselves too seriously—give us a shout.
