Your route, in either direction
Your Calgary move, planned across Canada
For a Calgary departure, plan the property access alongside the receiving home's requirements. For an arrival, make sure possession and the Calgary loading location are ready for the agreed delivery. Take A Load Off Moving books and coordinates long-distance moves through the Great Canadian Van Lines network. GCVL lists TALO as its Nanaimo agent; your move can connect Calgary with another Canadian destination without a required Nanaimo stop.
Prepare the Calgary property for moving day
Describe access before pickup or delivery. Include the driveway approach, stairs, garage access and walking distance from a suitable loading area. If you are moving from a townhouse or apartment, check whether a shared lane, loading space or elevator needs to be reserved.
Tell us about furniture in a basement, items in a detached garage and anything stored away from the main home. Those details belong in the inventory and access plan.
- Photograph tight turns, stairways and awkward entrances.
- Identify who can authorize use of shared loading areas.
- Include every storage area in your inventory.
Check the Calgary snow route before a winter appointment
Before a winter pickup or delivery, use Calgary's snow-route address lookup and check the current parking-ban information. The City notes that route signs may be at entry points, so a missing sign directly outside the home is not enough to establish the street's status.
Review the published restrictions and exceptions with your mover if curb loading is proposed. A street looking plowed does not establish that the ban has been lifted. Separately, arrange for clear steps and paths, especially if you have left Calgary before pickup or have not arrived for delivery.
- Arrange a local contact if the home will be empty.
- Keep essential winter clothing in your personal luggage.
Treat possession and delivery as separate decisions
Tell us your possession date, the date you must leave the old home and any flexibility between them. Getting the keys and receiving the shipment may need separate appointments.
If the dates leave a gap, ask about storage availability, additional handling and later delivery. Include those proposed services and charges in the written plan.
- Share closing or possession constraints early.
Make your quote request useful from the first conversation
For a Calgary-to-Toronto move, the Calgary driveway and basement are only part of the estimate: the receiving condo's elevator and loading appointment also matter. Coming into a Calgary house reverses the preparation. Share its driveway, stairs and key handover before finalizing the service.
List furniture by room, include boxes, outdoor equipment and garage contents, and flag heavy or fragile pieces. Explain the packing help you want. Review the provider, charges, coverage choices and how access or inventory changes will be handled.
- Include your full origin and destination addresses.
- Keep documents, medication and arrival essentials with you.

Calgary long-distance moving questions
Do I need to arrange reserved street space at a Calgary house?
Start by checking suitable private loading access with your mover. If the plan needs reserved public curb space, Calgary's street-use page explains the process and associated temporary no-parking arrangements. Requirements depend on the proposed location and use.
Do you help with moves into Calgary as well as departures?
We review both directions. For a Calgary delivery, include possession timing, property access and a contact who can be present. For a departure, include those same details for your destination.
What if my Calgary house has a long or steep driveway?
Describe the approach and send useful photos. Ask whether the proposed loading arrangement is suitable and whether any additional access service or charge would be needed before accepting the estimate.
Can I assume the curb is available once my snow route is plowed?
Check the City's current status and applicable exceptions. Calgary's FAQ says a plowed snow route does not by itself mean the parking ban is lifted. Discuss an affected loading location before the moving appointment.
Start with your route
Where are you moving?
Moving from or to Calgary? Include the other end of your route, your preferred loading date and the size of your move.
- Both addresses and postal codes, if available.
- Inventory, photos and any heavy or fragile items.
- Stairs, elevators, parking and truck access.
- Possession dates and any gap before delivery.
Use the move-details box to describe your route. Sending a request starts a conversation; it does not reserve a date or confirm a price.
